Saledo: A Sustainable Venture Turning Surplus Food into Value and Supporting the Circular Economy
With gluten-free green banana flour and a zero-waste production model, Saledo is making an impact both in Türkiye and across Europe.
Today, food surplus stands as both an economic and environmental challenge. Saledo offers an innovative solution to this problem by transforming bananas that cannot be sold due to cosmetic imperfections into gluten-free, fiber-rich, resistant-starch green banana flour and banana chips.
From its own greenhouse, Saledo upcycles approximately 200 tons of cosmetically imperfect bananas each year—preventing surplus food while developing healthy products. In doing so, it contributes to building a more sustainable food system.
Contributing to the Circular Economy with the Waste2Plate Project
Saledo is a key partner in Waste2Plate, a project supported by the European Union and funded by EIT Food. The initiative aims to reintegrate food surplus into the value chain through circular economy principles.
Within the scope of Waste2Plate, Saledo:

Saledo’s Role in Food Innovation
Saledo’s flagship product, green banana flour, is made from unripe bananas, offering a gluten-free, natural alternative rich in fiber and resistant starch. In addition, its banana chips, developed as a healthy snack, encourage sustainable food consumption.
These products not only support more conscious consumer choices but also promote environmentally friendly production practices. We are proud to see our impact grow through the Waste2Plate project.
